Upcoming Interruption to EROS Processing and Distribution Systems
From April 7-10, 2025, USGS EROS Landsat processing systems, data distribution, and many online tools will be unavailable due to planned maintenance. The details and the timeframes of what will be impacted are listed below.
Landsat Product Processing
Starting: Monday April 7, 2025, 6:00 p.m. CDT
Completion: Thursday April 10, 2025, 12:00 p.m. CDT
The processing of newly acquired Landsat 8 and Landsat 9 data will be paused starting at 6:00 p.m. CDT on Monday, April 7th. Data processing will remain paused until the distribution systems return to nominal operations (described below).
Note: Direct access to the Landsat commercial cloud environment will remain available, but no new data will be added until maintenance completes.
Product and Science Distribution Systems
Starting: Tuesday April 8, 2025, 4:00 p.m. CDT
Completion: Thursday April 10, 2025, 12:00 p.m. CDT
All USGS EROS product distribution and science systems, as well as online applications, will be unavailable by 4:00 p.m. CDT on April 8th and will remain down until maintenance activities are complete and systems are brought back online by 12:00 p.m. CDT on Thursday April 10th. Access to systems may be intermittent during the return to nominal operations.

- Landsat-based tools (Landsat Acquisition Calendar, EarthNow!, Spectral Characteristics Viewer)
- EROS Cal/Val Center of Excellence (ECCOE)/RCA-EO tools (Test Site Catalog, Online Compendium)
- USGS EROS-based tools (EROS Media Gallery, Earthshots, Remote Sensing Classroom)
