Environmental and Climate Justice

Detailed Description

Artwork developed for National Climate Adaptation Science Center webinar series "Incorporating Climate and Environmental Justice into Research and Resource Management."

Circular artwork divided into horizontal layers of vignettes illustrating interactions between people and the natural world: 1) An orange sunrise shines on icy mountains, 2) People of various ages, ethnicities, and abilities hold signs demonstrating love for the planet, 3) A bison and cow stare at each other on opposite sides of a barbed wire fence on a rangeland, 4) A man and a woman harvest “three sisters” crops of corn and beans, 5) People gather at an urban farmers market, 6) A hiker walks through a partially-logged forest, 7) Young people clean up trash from a polluted wetland, and 7) A sea turtle avoids a fishing net as it swims through a coral reef. A waterfall runs between the illustrations, connecting the topmost mountain scene to the bottom seascape.
