Return to all Landsat Headlines
The Landsat 8 satellite went into Safehold on November 1, 2020 (DOY 306).
This week, the Landsat 8 Flight Operations Team has successfully restored the Operational Land Imaging (OLI) and the Thermal Infrared Sensor (TIRS) instruments to their optimal temperature in order to resume imaging.
On Saturday, November 7 (DOY 312), both instruments will resume imaging; however, the data will be stored in the archive but will not be available until calibration activities next week verify the validity of data from both instruments.
Another update will be provided next week upon successful completion of calibration activities and to announce when nominal imaging and data availability will resume.
