USGS Library in Menlo Park

The USGS Menlo Park Library collection houses USGS publications, topographic and geologic maps of California, and reference materials on California geology, water, ecology, soils, mining exploration, and history. The library holds an extensive aerial photography collection, mostly of San Francisco Bay Region, many from the 1940's-50's.

Directions to USGS Library Menlo Park

From Bayshore Freeway (US 101):

  • Take the Willow Road Exit west to Menlo Park.
  • Drive 1 mile to Middlefield Road and turn right (north).
  • Drive 2 blocks and turn left on Survey Lane.
  • Go 1 block. The library is in Building 15.

From El Camino Real (US 82)

  • Turn east on Ravenswood Avenue in Menlo Park.
  • Drive to the T-junction at Middlefield Road and turn right.
  • Proceed 2 blocks past the USGS main entrance at 345 Middlefield Road.
  • Turn right (west) on Survey Lane.
  • Go 1 block. The library is in Building 15.

Using Public Transportation:

  • Take CalTrain to the Menlo Park Station and then the SamTrans Bus 296 to the campus.
  • To walk from the station to the campus, head south to Ravenswood Avenue (about 100 yards).
  • Turn left (east) and walk down Ravenswood to Middlefield Road (about a half mile).
  • Turn right (south). The campus is on the right hand side of the street.
  • Turn right (west) on Survey Lane.
  • Go 1 block. The library is in Building 15.
