The Coral Reef Ecosystems (CREST) project involves research in the U.S. Caribbean, Gulf of Mexico, Florida Keys, and Pacific Ocean. CREST researchers study coral growth to inform reef restoration efforts, seafloor erosion and implications for future coastal hazards, past climatic conditions via coral and reef cores, and microbial processes on reefs—including coral diseases.
