2016 Brown Treesnake Visual Survey, Saipan
Detailed Description
A Rapid Response Team member searches a tree for Brown Treesnakes (BTS). BTS are an arboreal species that spends much of their life in the tree canopy, although they can be found almost anywhere. They are nocturnally active and thus visual surveys most occur at night with the use of high-powered headlamps. During the day they can typically be found hiding in dark crevices that include human made materials. For that reason, preventing their spread off the island of Guam remains a challenging task.
