Alaska bear wildlife camera
Detailed Description
An image taken from a wildlife camera placed on Shakun Island off the Katmai coast. USGS researchers placed a camera after discovering many sea otter carcasses from the area appeared to have been consumed. Curious about whether these were predation events or post-mortem scavenging, they placed the camera and discovered, in cooperation with National Park Service biologists, that brown bears were making the swim out to the island to predate sea otters.
