American Black Ducks

American Black Ducks

Detailed Description

Pen-raised American black ducks reside at the U.S. Geological Survey's Patuxent Wildlife Research Center in Laurel, Md., on July 1, 2013. Wildlife biologist Dr. Alicia Berlin uses the ducks in food trials, placing them in a controlled environment where they are allowed to forage for different foods they would find in natural settings to determine how much energy they would get from those food sources.
