Detailed Description

At 2:42 PM HST on July 12, 2018, a collapse explosion event occurred at Kīlauea's summit. The energy released by the event was equivalent to a M5.3 earthquake. The event generated rockfall in Halema‘uma‘u Crater and along the steep Kīlauea summit caldera walls.
