Microfossils

Detailed Description

Plant and animal microfossils—pollen, algae, mollusks, forams, and ostracodes—from sediment cores serve as proxies to assess water quality changes during the past several thousand years in the bay.  This dinocyst (fossil algae) specimen is about 90 micrometers across.
