Researcher gives tour to VIPs

A group of people walk together, chatting, along a wide sidewalk elevated above a beach area in the background.

Detailed Description

USGS Research geologist Patrick Barnard (wearing USGS jacket) walks with San Francisco Mayor Ed Lee (wearing San Francisco jacket), US Department of the Interior Secretary Sally Jewell (next to Mayor Lee), and other VIPs, above Ocean Beach in San Francisco. Dr. Barnard led a coastal climate change field trip on December 18, 2014, to show VIPs erosion along the outer coast of San Francisco, California, and explain how climate change could make the coast even more vulnerable to erosion and flooding.
