Western Meadowlark

Detailed Description

The Western Meadowlark (Sturnella neglecta) is the State Bird of Montana, Kansas, Nebraska, North Dakota, Oregon, and Wyoming. This iconic species of the prairie has returned from its winter range to the Kulm Wetland Management District in North Dakota. Its song can be heard easily from the roadsides where there are pastures or grasslands this time of year.
