Theory of aquifer tests

The development of water supplies from wells was placed on a rational basis with Darcy's development of the law governing the movement of fluids through sands and with Dupuit's application of that law to the problem of radial flow toward a pumped well. As field experience increased, confidence in the applicability of quantitative methods was gained and interest in developing solutions for more com

Inventory of published and unpublished sediment-load data, United States and Puerto Rico, 1950-60

This inventory of published and unpublished sediment-load data contains a list of the sediment-transport measurements in the United States and Puerto Rico during October 1950 to September 1960, made by the agencies associated with the Subcommittee on Sedimentation. Some of the agencies have miscellaneous sediment data, such as single observations at scattered stations or observations on very small

Salinity of the Delaware Estuary

The purpose of this investigation was to obtain data on and study the factors affecting the salinity of the Delaware River from Philadelphia, Pa., to the Appoquinimink River, Del. The general chemical quality of water in the estuary is described, including changes in salinity in the river cross section and profile, diurnal and seasonal changes, and the effects of rainfall, sea level, and winds on

Surface water records of Indiana, 1962

The surface-water records for the 1962 water year for gaging stations, partial-record stations, and miscellaneous sites within the State of Indiana are given in this report. For convenience there are also included records for a few pertinent gaging stations in bordering States. The records were collected and computed by the Water Resources Division of the U.S. Geological Survey, under the directio

Records of selected wells and springs, selected drillers' logs of wells, and chemical analyses of ground and surface waters, northern Utah Valley, Utah County, Utah

This report is intended to serve two purposes: (1) to make available to the public basic ground-water data useful in planning and studying development of water resources and (2) to supplement an interpretive report that will be published later.Records were collected during the period 1956-59 by the U.S. Geological Survey in cooperation with the Utah State Engineer as a part of the investigation of

Water supply for a fish hatchery site, Clearwater Valley, Idaho

A fish hatchery proposed for the lower Clearwater River basin would require a continuous water supply of 10 to 12 cubic feet per second. Limitations on maximum and minimum temperatures and on turbidity are such that a combination surface-and ground-water supply probably would be required. Six prospective sites were examined with respect to their water supply. The sites were at the mouths of Orofi
