WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Bureau of Reclamation today announced an $11.1 million investment from President Biden's Investing in America agenda to support collaborative planning and design projects that improve water sustainability and efficiency. The 34 grants through Reclamation's WaterSMART program will support projects in 11 states and Guam. Funding for these grants is provided through President' Bipartisan Infrastructure Law and Inflation Reduction Act. Read More

Powerplants are lighting the way to zero emissions
Reclamation, like all other federal agencies, is required under the Federal Building Performance Standard to cut energy use and replace fossil-fuel systems and appliances with efficient, non-pollutive electric equipment and appliances in buildings owned by the federal government. The goal is to achieve zero emissions in 30% of the buildings by 2030. Read More

Reclamation awards $1.9M for new water treatment technology
WASHINGTON – The Bureau of Reclamation's Desalination and Water Purification Research program awarded eight projects funding totaling more than $1.9 million. Reclamation selected the projects from 80 eligible applications all submitting pioneering solutions to desalination and water treatment technologies. Read More

WASHINGTON – The Bureau of Reclamation is investing $13.3 million in grants for 51 applied science projects in 12 states for the development of tools and information to support water management for multiple uses as part of President Biden's Investing in America agenda. WASHINGTON — The Department of the Interior today announced a $29.7 million investment from President Biden's Investing in America agenda to help states in the Upper Colorado River Basin – Colorado, New Mexico, Utah and Wyoming – with drought planning, as part of the all-of-government approach to make western communities more resilient to drought and climate change. ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - Water managers are expecting a low spring runoff this year on the Rio Grande after issuing the Natural Resources Conservation Service's (NRCS) February streamflow forecast for El Vado Reservoir inflow for March to July, which predicts inflow at only 46% of median. Read More

WASHINGTON — The Biden-Harris administration today announced a significant milestone in its efforts to protect the stability and sustainability of the Colorado River System and strengthen water security in the West. With historic water conservation enabled by President Biden's Investing in America agenda, the Administration has staved off the immediate possibility of the Colorado River System's reservoirs from falling to critically low elevations that would threaten water deliveries and power production. Due to record conservation investments as well as improved hydrology, Lake Mead levels today, at elevation 1075 feet, are the highest since May 2021, when they were at 1073 feet. Read More
