The eruption has paused. Episode 26 of the ongoing Halemaʻumaʻu eruption ended at approximately 10:25 AM HST on June 20. Tremor has decreased significantly. Summit tilt has changed from rapid deflation to slow inflation. View All Messages.

South vent shut down at approximately 10:25 AM. Lava flows are continuing to move slowly from the vents onto the crater floor as they cool and solidify. Summit deflationary tilt has stopped. Strong tremor continues. View All Messages.

North vent shut down at approximately 10:07 AM. Lava fountains under 160 ft (50 m) high and flows are still erupting from the south vent. Strong tremor continues. View All Messages.

Lava fountains and flows continue from both vents as of 7:30 AM. North vent has been much more active. Peak heights early this morning likely set a new record for this eruption. Heights are now ~650 ft (200 m) with frequent higher bursts. View All Messages.

Episode 26 of the ongoing Halemaʻumaʻu eruption began at approximately 1:40 AM HST, June 20, with lava fountains and flows erupting from the north vent. Fountain heights are well over 1,000 feet (300 m). Plume is over 20,000 ft (6,000 m). View All Messages.
