For USGS data products stored in non-USGS repositories, review, approval, release, and preservation requirements apply. A copy of the metadata record that describes the data asset and includes a resolvable Digital Object Identifier (DOI), must be added to the USGS Science Data Catalog, using the individual metadata upload page. For USGS data products stored in non-USGS repositories, review, approval, release, and preservation requirements apply as described in SM 502.8 and SM 502.9. A copy of the metadata record that describes the data asset and includes a resolvable Digital Object Identifier (DOI), must be added to the USGS Science Data Catalog, using the individual metadata upload page. The metadata record should accompany data stored in an acceptable non-USGS digital repository. These metadata should be maintained and updated as necessary (refer to SM 502.7).
