Colorado Flood Database and Interactive Map

Data on 6,767 flood events at 1,597 individual sites throughout Colorado were compiled to generate the flood database. The data sources of flood information are indirect discharge measurements that were stored in U.S. Geological Survey offices (water years 1867–2011), flood data from indirect discharge measurements referenced in U.S. Geological Survey reports.

Alaska Volcano Observatory Satellite Data

This is a new tool for understanding and communicating risks. The activities include the development of risk models and approaches to improve the situational awareness of communities and industries to natural hazards and reduce the uncertainty of those risk assessments.

Spatially explicit modeling of annual and seasonal habitat for greater sage-grouse (Centrocercus urophasianus) in Nevada and Northeastern California—an updated decision-support tool for management

Successful adaptive management hinges largely upon integrating new and improved sources of information as they become available. Updating management tools for greater sage-grouse (Centrocercus urophasianus) populations, which are indicators for the large-scale health of sagebrush (Artemisia spp.) ecosystems in the Great Basin of North America, provide a timely example for...

Stream Suspended Sediment Loads in Western Oregon and Northwest California (2012)

This ASCII file contains mean annual suspended-sediment loads predicted for western Oregon and northwestern California and the relative contribution to those loads from different types of upstream lithology. These suspended-sediment predictions can be joined to the NHDPlus v.2 hydrography (COMID), allowing users to perform additional analysis and create their own map products.

Groundwater discharge areas for Antelope, Kobeh, and Monitor Valleys, Central Nevada, 1964

This dataset represents "phreatophyte areas" mapped as part of a groundwater reconnaissance effort in four valleys in central Nevada and published in 1964. The data were digitized for comparison with mapping of groundwater discharge areas done in 2011 as part of a groundwater study in these valleys published in 2016.

Evapotranspiration units for Dixie Valley, Churchill County, Nevada

This data set was created as part of a U.S. Geological Survey study, done in cooperation with Bureau of Reclamation. The intended uses of this data set include, but are not limited to, natural resource modeling, mapping, and visualization applications.

Temperature Normalized Enhanced Vegetation Index for Dixie Valley, Churchill County, Nevada

The Enhanced Vegetation Index (EVI) was calculated for 10 Landsat 5 Thematic mapper scenes and combined with brightness temperature in an effort to reduce confounding (high) EVI values resulting from forbes and cheat grass in sparsely vegetated areas, and biological soil crusts from bare soil to densely vegetated areas.

Land Cover Trends Data - 1973-2000

The U.S. Geological Survey Land Cover Trends Project is releasing a 1973–2000 time-series land-use/land-cover dataset for the conterminous United States. The dataset contains 5 dates of land-use/land-cover data for 2,688 sample blocks randomly selected within 84 ecological regions. The nominal dates of the land-use/land-cover maps are 1973, 1980, 1986, 1992, and 2000.
