Code and data for 'Confirmation of a decline in the summer population of the monarch butterfly due to habitat loss'

This code describes graphical and analytical comparisons between monarch butterfly survey data collected during summer breeding, fall migration, and winter.

Plankton taxonomy and water quality in the Tualatin River Basin to the west of Portland, Oregon, during the summers of 2019-21

Water-quality data and plankton samples were collected at multiple locations within the Fernhill Natural Treatment wetland and along the Tualatin River, located to the west of Portland, Oregon, during the summers of 2018, 2019 and 2020. Water quality parameters collected include water temperature, specific conductance, dissolved oxygen, pH, turbidity, chlorophyll, and blue green algae. Data were c

Timelapse camera and webcam images of the fissure 8 lava flow during the 2018 lower East Rift Zone eruption of Kīlauea volcano, Island of Hawaiʻi

The 2018 lower East Rift Zone eruption of Kīlauea volcano, Island of Hawaiʻi, was one of the most destructive effusive eruptions worldwide in the past century, destroying over 700 structures (Neal and others, 2019; Meredith and others, 2022).  Between May and September 2018, a total of 24 fissures opened, producing a lava flow field with an area of 36 km2.  By the end of May, the eruption had foc

Campaign GPS measurements on the Island of Hawaiʻi collected by the Hawaiian Volcano Observatory in 2021

This release includes data collected during campaign GPS surveys at Kīlauea and Mauna Loa Volcanoes on the Island of Hawaiʻi in 2021. It includes data from a total of 63 sites occupied from January 1 to December 31, 2021. For each site, we include its measured raw data in daily files, Receiver INdependent EXchange (RINEX) files for each day, field log sheet(s), and associated metadata information.

High-resolution airborne magnetic and radiometric survey of the Republic Graben, Okanogan and Kettle metamorphic core complexes, Kootenay Arc and surrounding regions, Northeastern Washington

The Republic survey consists of high-resolution aeromagnetic and radiometric data designed to image the subsurface geology and structure of a large portion of northeastern Washington. These data are intended for rigorous modeling and interpretation of the geology and structure in this region and will be used to evaluate the potential for undiscovered resources and will contribute to USGS and Washi

Brant (Branta bernicla) Genetic Data from North America, Europe, and Asia

This data package is comprised of one table with genetic data from Brant (Branta bernicla). Data include sampling location and allele sizes of 14 microsatellite loci.

Produced water chemistry data collected from the Oxnard Oil Field, Ventura County, and the Placerita Oil Field, Los Angeles County, 2018, California

The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) in cooperation with the California State Water Resources Control Board collected produced water and gas samples in the Oxnard Oil Field in Ventura County in August 2018 and the Placerita Oil Field in Los Angeles County in December 2018. Sampled sites included oil wells; injectate from tanks, pipelines, and injection wells where produced water from many wells, afte

Seamless Integrated Geologic Map Database of the Intermountain West: Contributions to The National Geologic Map

This dataset is intended to provide seamless, integrated geologic mapping of the U.S. Intermountain West region as a contribution to The National Geologic Map supported by the National Cooperative Geologic Mapping Program of the U.S. Geological Survey. Surficial and bedrock geology are included in this data release as independent datasets at a variable resolution from 1:50,000 to 1:250,000 scale.

Forest canopy gap dynamics: quantifying forest gaps and understanding gap – level forest regeneration in Upper Mississippi River floodplain forests

Forest canopy gap metrics for select floodplain forest canopy gaps in the Upper Mississippi River System (UMRS).

Locations of Change in Aquatic Vegetation Cover along the Illinois Waterway from 2019 - 2021

Over the summer of 2020, the Illinois Waterway (IWW) was closed to complete maintenance on lock chambers along the Illinois River. This closure restricted vessel traffic along the river and potentially changed habitat characteristics for aquatic vegetation establishment and growth. To assess if patterns of vegetation establishment and growth changed during the closure, peak biomass imagery from 20

Uncrewed Aircraft Systems (UAS) natural color, multispectral, lidar, and hyperspectral remote sensing data products collected at dryland sites 40 km south of Moab, Utah in May 2023

In support of U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) Southwest Biological Science Center researchers, and in coordination with the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) and National Ecological Observatory Network (NEON), the USGS National Uncrewed Systems Office (NUSO) conducted uncrewed aircraft systems (UAS) remote sensing flights over two BLM Assessment, Inventory, and Monitoring (AIM) plots at the NEON Moab

Seepage Meter Data Collected at Crystal Lake, City of Crystal Lake, Illinois, 2020

Seepage meters measurements were collected at three locations along the northern shoreline and at three locations along the southern shoreline of Crystal Lake, located in the City of Crystal Lake, Illinois on October 28-30, 2020, and November 4-5, 2020. Seepage measurements directly measure the flux for the area captured by the seepage meter. A positive (gaining) flux is assumed when the volume in
