Science Datasets
The data collected and the techniques used by USGS scientists should conform to or reference national and international standards and protocols if they exist and when they are relevant and appropriate. For datasets of a given type, and if national or international metadata standards exist, the data are indexed with metadata that facilitates access and integration.
Willamette River Tributary Width Surveys
Measurements of the surface width of the Willamette River's largest tributaries were included in this project in order to provide an important check on the water-temperature models being constructed as the foundation for the Willamette temperature Total Maximum Daily Loads (TMDLs).
U.S. Seismic Hazard Maps - 2002 Edition
The 2002 U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) National Seismic Hazard Maps display earthquake ground motions for various probability levels across the United States and are applied in seismic provisions of building codes, insurance rate structures, risk assessments, and other public policy. This update of the maps incorporates new findings on earthquake ground shaking, faults, seismicity%2

National Land Cover Database (NLCD) 1992 Land Cover Conterminous United States
The National Land Cover Database (NLCD) 1992 Land Cover layer was produced through a cooperative project conducted by the Multi-Resolution Land Characteristics (MRLC) Consortium. The MRLC Consortium is a partnership of federal agencies (www.mrlc.gov), consisting of the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA),...
High-Latitude Climate Transects
This completed project makes available datasets related to the High-Latitude Climate-Feedback Transects. These datasets cover a wide range of scales, from the entire Arctic circumpolar area, to several regional transects (Alaska, Eastern and Central Siberia), to very detailed ground data for a number of specific study sites.

EPA 40km Hexagons for Conterminous United States
This dataset of 40 square kilometer (sq. km) hexagons was created by the U.S. EPA's Environmental Monitoring and Assessment Program (EMAP) and is being released by the U.S. Geological Survey for public use. The 40 sq. km hexagons were derived from a grid consisting of a triangular array of points that cover the United States and neighboring Canada and Mexico. The base grid of points ha
Chemical analyses of soils and other surficial materials of the conterminous US
Geochemistry of soils and other regoliths collected and analyzed by Hans Shacklette and colleagues from 1958 until about 1976.
Vermillion/Cannon River Bottoms raw vegetation data from transect data
Detailed point center quarter sampling (Mueller-Dombois and Ellenberg 1974) was conducted during late June along a 150-m long transect that started at a bird survey point. Four plots were sampled corresponding to the start, 50m, 100m and end points of each transect. At each of these four sample plots, species, diameter at breast height (dbh) and distance from the center of the p
