Science Datasets

The data collected and the techniques used by USGS scientists should conform to or reference national and international standards and protocols if they exist and when they are relevant and appropriate. For datasets of a given type, and if national or international metadata standards exist, the data are indexed with metadata that facilitates access and integration.

Insect Emergence from Arctic Coastal Plain Thaw Ponds, 2012-2013

This dataset provides information on the identity and number of insects that emerged from thaw pond basins on the central Arctic Coastal Plain, Alaska, during the summer growing season in 2012 and 2013. Collections were made using passive floating emergence traps in pond centers and margins from four types of ponds: low centered polygons, troughs, small coalescent, and large coalescent.

Salinity-temperature Interactions on Freshwater Fish Physiology (2015-2018)

This data release supports the manuscript entitled "Warmer temperatures interact with salinity to weaken physiological facilitation to stress in freshwater fishes", and includes one data set with values representing the physiological responses of freshwater fishes to salinity and temperature gradients in field surveys from the Wyoming Range (2015 to 2017) and laboratory...

U.S. Geological Survey and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Bathymetric Survey of Lake Koocanusa, Lincoln County, Montana, 2016-2018

In 2016, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) started collecting high-resolution multibeam echosounder (MBES) data on Lake Koocanusa. The survey originated near the International Boundary (River Mile (RM) 271.0) and extended down the reservoir, hereinafter referred to as downstream, about 1.4 miles downstream of the Montana 37 Highway Bridge near Boulder Creek (about RM 253).

The Louisiana Amphibian Monitoring Program from 1997 to 2017: Data

Call observation data from the Louisiana Amphibian Monitoring Program (LAMP). Each route has 10 stops. The routes are in one of 3 Louisiana regions (north, south and Florida parishes). Routes are identified by number and name. Call observations are categorical number 0 (not heard) through 3 (full chorus with overlapping calls).

Measured sections and paleocurrent data from fluvial deposits of the Upper Cretaceous-Paleogene Raton and Poison Canyon Formations, Raton Basin, Colorado-New Mexico, USA

This document provides two data sets that characterize outcrops of fluvial deposits of the Upper Cretaceous-Paleogene Raton and Poison Canyon Formations of the Raton Basin of Colorado-New Mexico, USA. First, the dataset includes stratigraphic sections measured through fluvial deposits of the Raton and Poison Canyon Formations (ten unique .tif files), currently exposed in roadside outcrops.

Combined results and derivative products of hydrogeologic structure and properties from airborne electromagnetic surveys in the Mississippi Alluvial Plain

Electrical resistivity results from two regional airborne electromagnetic (AEM) surveys (Minsley et al. 2021 and Burton et al. 2021) over the Mississippi Alluvial Plain (MAP) were combined by the U.S. Geological Survey to produce three-dimensional (3D) gridded models and derivative hydrogeologic products.

Exploring the exceptional performance of a deep learning stream temperature model and the value of streamflow data

This data release provides all data and code used in Rahmani et al. (2020) to model stream temperature and assess results. Briefly, we used a subset of the USGS GAGES-II dataset as a test case for temperature prediction using deep learning methods.
