Data Releases

The data collected and the techniques used by USGS scientists should conform to or reference national and international standards and protocols if they exist and when they are relevant and appropriate. For datasets of a given type, and if national or international metadata standards exist, the data are indexed with metadata that facilitates access and integration.

Data from: Broad-scale occurrence of a subsidized avian predator: reducing impacts of ravens on sage-grouse and other sensitive prey

Expanding human enterprise across remote environments impacts many wildlife species, including sage-grouse (Centrocercus urophasianus), an indicator species whose decline is at the center of national conservation strategies and land use policies. Anthropogenic resources provide subsidies for generalist predators, potentially leading to cascading effects on sensitive prey species at lower trophic l

Map of Study Area and Phytoplankton Taxonomy in Three North Louisiana Reservoirs: Cross Lake, Bayou D'Arbonne Lake, and Poverty Point Reservoir, June 2009-February 2011

This data release includes GIS shapefiles and metadata for location of the study area and phytoplankton taxonomy counts determined by Dr. Russel Rhodes, Faculty Emeritus, Department of Biology, Missouri State University, in three north Louisiana reservoirs: Cross Lake, Bayou D'Arbonne Lake, and Poverty Point Reservoir, June 2009-February 2011.

Grassland State and Transition Map of Canyonlands National Park Needles District and Indian Creek Grazing Allotment

This raster data depicts the modeled distribution of three grassland states: Biocrust, Grass-bare, and Annualized-bare. We developed models of bare ground, total vegetation, exotic grasses and biological soil crust using spectral data from three year composites of growing season (March-October) Landsat data in Google Earth Engine and field data that were collected over the same period at monitorin

Nutrient and pesticide data collected from the USGS National Water Quality Network and previous networks, 1963-2016

The National Water Quality Network (NWQN) for Rivers and Streams includes 113 surface-water river and stream sites monitored by the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) National Water Quality Program, National Water-Quality Assessment (NAWQA) Project. The NWQN includes 19 large river coastal sites, 44 large river inland sites, 30 wadeable stream reference sites, 10 wadeable stream urban sites, and 10 wad

Nutrient and pesticide data collected from the USGS National Water Quality Network and previous networks, 1963-2017

The National Water Quality Network (NWQN) for Rivers and Streams includes 111 surface-water river and stream sites monitored by the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) National Water Quality Program, National Water-Quality Assessment (NAWQA) Project. The NWQN includes 20 large river coastal sites, 41 large river inland sites, 30 wadeable stream reference sites, 10 wadeable stream urban sites, and 10 wad

Data Used to Assess the Hydrogeologic Framework with Emphasis on the Ogallala and Edwards-Trinity Aquifers, in and Near Gaines, Terry, and Yoakum Counties, Texas, 2018

More than 11,500 well records, such as geophysical logs, drilling descriptions, and published hydrogeologic framework information, were evaluated to help characterize the framework of hydrogeologic units in and near Gaines, Terry, and Yoakum Counties, Texas. Additional geophysical data were collected to improve the spatial coverage across the study area and to reduce uncertainty with regard to hyd

Eklutna River at Glenn Highway Bridge, Alaska Cross-Section Survey, 2016 and 2017

This dataset consists of survey data, plots, photos, and a photo index from a cross section survey of the Eklutna River at the Glenn Highway bridge in Alaska. The cross sections were surveyed in 2016 and 2017 using a total station, then adjusted to match datums for a Municipality of Anchorage orthophoto and Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities bridge as-built elevations.

Current-use pesticides and emerging amphibian pathogens in natural ponds, excavated ponds, and stormwater basins from 24 sites varying in land-use classifications throughout the New Jersey Pinelands, 2014-2016

Water, sediment, anuran food (leaf litter and detritus) and whole body larval amphibian composites were analyzed for over 100 current-use pesticides from 24 wetlands representing land-use gradients in the New Jersey Pinelands, USA during 2014-2016. Emerging amphibian pathogens, Ranavirus and Batrachochytrium dendrobatidis (Bd) were also assessed in individual larvae at the 24 wetlands. Tables in t

Datasets and metadata for estimates of nitrate loads and yields from groundwater to streams in the Chesapeake Bay watershed based on land use and geology

This USGS data release contains datasets, metadata, and figures associated with estimating nitrate loads and yields from groundwater to streams in the Chesapeake Bay watershed based on land use and geology. There are three shapefiles with associated metadata and figures representing the shapefiles: Catchments_GWcontribN.shp: NHDPlus catchment estimates of groundwater contribution of nitra

Bear capture recapture sampling in Glacier National Park, Montana, 2004

Text files containing detection events from genetic sampling sites associated with the unique identifier of American black bears in Glacier National Park, Montana, USA, 2004. Data is formatted for spatial capture recapture data analysis.

West Twin Creek Alaska Subsurface Bromide Tracer Experiment, 2015

This data was produced as part of a subsurface tracer experiment performed on a boreal hillslope in July, 2015. The data is separated into three files: 'Well Data.csv' includes the location and depth of well screens, concentrations of the bromide tracer in time, saturation state of the subsurface at the wells, ground cover at the wells, and depth of the organic-mineral boundary which controls shal

Arctic Coastal Plain Seasonal Lake Drainage, Water Temperature, and Solute and Nutrient Concentrations, 2011 - 2014

This data release includes remotely sensed lake and lake chemistry and water temperature data collected from 2011 to 2014) from a series of lakes on the Arctic Coastal Plain of Alaska. Most of the data is from two sites within the Chipp River Basin.
