This interactive website highlights key scientific findings of the National Water Availability Assessment report through engaging stories, plain-language explanations, and interactive data visualizations.

The National Water Availability Assessment Data Companion (NWDC) delivers model-based estimates of water supply and demand.

Using published studies, data, and models completed at regional or national scales in the United States during 2010–20, this chapter of the National Water Availability Assessment moves towards a comprehensive assessment by summarizing how selected anthropogenic and geogenic water-quality constituents affect national-scale water availability for human and ecosystem needs.

The researchers of this project use microfossils from sediment cores taken in the Beaufort Sea to rebuild the climate patterns, sea ice and circulation, and ecosystems from the past 2000 years. Between 3 to 9 inches of rain fell within 48 hours across the state of Vermont over four days in July 2023 causing significant flooding and millions of dollars in damage. The high amount of rain caused several rivers to peak at record levels, in some cases exceeding records set during Tropical Storm Irene in 2011. This dashboard compares the high-water marks of the two storms.

The Fairfax Water Quality Dashboard provides access to water quality data from 6 intensive monitoring stations and 15 trend monitoring stations in Fairfax County.

The Hampton Roads Water Quality Dashboard displays data from 12 water-quality monitoring stations across the cities of Chesapeake, Hampton, Newport News, Norfolk, Portsmouth, and Virginia Beach. This application provides access to current conditions at each monitoring station and visualize timeseries plots for continuously monitored parameters collected at each monitoring stations.

Hawaiian coastal wetlands provide important habitat for endangered waterbirds and socio-cultural resources for Native Hawaiians. Currently, they are degraded by development, sedimentation, and invasive species and, thus, require restoration. Site prioritization represents both an actionable plan for coastal wetland restoration and an alternative protocol for restoration decision-making.
