Sensors mounted on satellites, planes, drones, and ground-based platforms are used to monitor land cover regionally and globally. The LCS Program uses a range of remotely sensed data (including satellite imagery, historical photographs, and maps of land-surface features) to document landscape change and drivers and improve projections of future change and its impacts on infrastructure and society.
