Sea Level Change

Sea-level rise and associated storm surges are threats to many parts of the Nation’s coast, where nearly half the citizens live. The LCS Program conducts multidisciplinary research to understand the magnitude and rate of past and potential future sea-level rise; the mechanisms that control sea level and coastal storm surges; and impacts of sea-level rise on coastal ecosystems and infrastructure.
