A data-management system for areal interpretive data for the High Plains in parts of Colorado, Kansas, Nebraska, New Mexico, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Texas, and Wyoming

January 1, 1982

The High Plains Regional Aquifer System Analysis has developed a regional water-resources (and related) data storage and retrieval system to organize and preserve areal interpretative data. The system is general and can easily be adapted for other studies. This report documents the High Plains data base as well as the general system that is independent of the High Plains area. The system is built around a hierarchically structured data base consisting of related latitude-longitude blocks. Various parameters in the data base are stored at different degrees of detail, with the finest detail being a block of 1 minute of latitude by 1 minute longitude (approximately 1 square mile).
