Charles E. Wicks

Charles "Chuck" Wicks is the Facilities Manager at the USGS Patuxent Wildlife Research Center located in Laurel, MD.

Chuck was a licensed general contractor before beginning his civil service career with the Department of the Navy at Norfolk Naval Shipyard, in January of 2011. As a veteran of the U S Navy, he enjoyed being back on the waterfront and helping to provide a clean, safe, work environment for the sailors and civilians. Chuck left NNSY in February of 2018 as a nuclear facilities supervisor, before becoming the facilities manager at PWRC. As a lifelong outdoorsman, working on a wildlife refuge was very appealing to him, and he saw an opportunity to apply his knowledge and abilities to help resurrect the aging and neglected facilities at PWRC. Chuck has a great appreciation for science and enjoys helping the research staff achieve their goals and providing them with modernized workspaces. When not at work, he loves cooking, gardening, and spending time with his wife, Tricia and their two dogs, Lucy and Ethel. Chuck is a graduate of Johnson and Wales University College of Culinary Arts, US Navy Firefighting Schools Pearl Harbor and San Diego, and has extensive training and coursework in nuclear and industrial safety.
