Biography

Intro

Cynthia Adams is a Master’s degree student at George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia. She is conducting research with Dr. Vicki Blazer and Dr. Luke Iwanowicz at the Leetown Science Center. Her master’s project is focused on the phylogeographic genetic diversity of the white sucker hepatitis B virus from the Great Lakes. She is actively involved in other projects, such as describing the fish pathogen Dermocystidium sp. recently found on the East Coast for the first time. Cynthia is interested in developing and using molecular tools to better describe and understand fish pathogens and diseases. Cynthia earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and German from Wake Forest University in 2012.
