Biography

I am now working as a volunteer since my retirement in 2015 from the Oregon Water Science Center of the USGS where I began my career as a groundwater hydrologist in 1987.  I have been involved in numerous investigations of groundwater systems, lakes, and wetlands throughout Oregon though most have been concentrated in the Portland and Upper Klamath basins.   I received a Master of Science degree in Geological Sciences from the University of South Carolina in 1986 and a Bachelor of Science degree with honors in Geological Sciences from Brown University in 1979.  My previous work experience includes several years as a Park Ranger with the National Park Service at Jewel Cave National Monument and as a firefighter with the U.S. Forest Service on a Hotshot crew in central Oregon.
