David S Anderson

USGS Hydrography Dataset Subject Matter Expert / Product Owner for GeoConflation activities

David Anderson is a cartographer with the National Geospatial Technical Operations Center (NGTOC) in Rolla, MO. David received his Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Science: Natural Sciences and certificate in Geographic Information Science (GIS) from the University of West Florida.

David joined USGS in 2008 as a USGS Hydrography Dataset (NHD) Point of Contact (POC). Over time he has conducted hydrographic research, advocated, and evaluated hydrographic data for both the National Hydrography Dataset (NHD) and Watershed Boundary Datasets (WBD), provided technical support to users of NHD, WBD, and NHDPlus HR data, and is involved in software product development and data model development projects. David is also involved in technical review panels and standards reviews for the 3D Hydrography Program (3DHP) as part of the 3D National Topographic Model (3DNTM).

 

Software Product Development

GeoConflation – Used to conflate data from production NHD to local resolution hydrographic data

NHD Update – Used for editing NHD data

NHD Utilities Suite – Used by non-editors to manipulate NHD data and generate geometric network and flow connection tables

Multiple Python toolboxes for proof of concepts
