Gabrielle A Duchene Inn

Gabrielle Duchene Inn is a Budget Analyst with the USGS Geology, Energy & Minerals (GEM) Science Center in Reston, VA.

Gaby began her professional career with USGS, in the summer of 2015, as a Student Admin under the Pathways Program authority for the Eastern Minerals and Environmental Resources Science Center (EMERSC). Her role supporting project staff quickly gave her experience with purchasing, timekeeping, travel arranging, and IPDS publications among other various duties. Upon graduation early 2017, Gaby was converted to a full time Administrative Operations Assistant (AOA) where she continued daily support for EMERSC and served as a backup for the Eastern Energy Resources Science Center (EERSC).

As she transitioned from travel to acquisitions and procurement policy, she acquired more financial responsibilities which allowed her to step up and fill the vacant role of Budget Analyst for EERSC in 2019. In her current role, Gaby manages funding and accounts for the newly merged Geology, Energy & Minerals Science Center (GEM), previously EERSC and EMERSC, under the supervision of Shirlie Mcmanus, Administrative Officer. She provides guidance to Center staff on issues related to budget development and execution, human resources/contractors, procurement, and travel as well as mentors the new Procurement AOA. She is also an active member of the Property Tiger Team and the IMT ART Tiger Team, helping to develop and revise existing standard operating procedures.

In her free time, Gaby enjoys spending time outside exploring nature: hiking with her dog, canoeing, skiing, biking, fishing and going on road trips. Always looking for a new opportunity for adventure!
