James Sayer

Biography

I have a long time interest in making the human to computer interaction a rich and fulfilling experience. I am currently working with scientists in Alaska, California, Oregon, and Washington to improve work processes through more than just technical skill because all processes involve working with people. The power to change a situation, even in a managed technology environment, lies with the individual and how they approach the situation.

My background is database management with credentials for Oracle and MS-SQL. My experience has shown that IT assets can be managed in a secure and shared environment while remaining robust and available. I routinely provide service to developers of software applications that want to improve their security profile.

My current project is a secure and shared collaborative workspace using Microsoft Office SharePoint Server (MOSS). The ease of use for many people, power to support thousands of users with a small administrative team, and full security trimmed content make this a rewarding project in support of science work at USGS.
