Jason Masoner

Jason conducts field-based research to study the fate, transport, and effects of environmental contaminants in municipal and industrial waste products that are disposed or reused for potential beneficial reuse purposes.

The focus of my work is primarily on environments that have been substantially disturbed by human activities. Such disturbances are frequently associated with sources containing complex mixtures of inorganic and emerging contaminants that have the potential to negatively impact both ecological and human health. More specifically, I seek to address the environmental issues that attend the management of urban stormwater runoff, municipal waste (landfills, domestic sewage) and oilfield wastes (drill cuttings, fluids, produced water). Overall, my research goal is to provide reliable and unbiased scientific information to environmental quality decision makers world-wide.
