Marilyn Billone

In 1983, Marilyn entered the publishing field as an Editorial Assistant for the USGS Branch of Geochemistry at the Denver Federal Center. In 1988, Marilyn transferred to the USGS in Reston, and began working as an Editorial Assistant for the Publications Management Unit in the Water Resources Division at the National Center in 1989, where she strived to learn as much as possible within the USGS publishing arena. In 1998, under the supervision of Greg Allord, she became a Writer-Editor, and has served in that role for the Reston Publishing Service Center since 2005.

Biography

Marilyn holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Community and Human Services from the State University of New York, Empire State College, Old Westbury, New York. She began her Federal career with the U.S. Immigration & Naturalization Service (INS) from 1978-82 in Denver, Colorado. There, she worked as a GS-3 Clerk-Typist and worked her way up to a GS-7 Contact Representative in 4 years. She re-entered the Federal workforce about a year later as a GS-5 Editorial Assistant in the USGS Branch of Geochemistry at the Denver Federal Center. While working full-time, Marilyn also served as the Federal Women's Program Manager of the USGS Central Region from 1987-88. In 1988, she transferred to Reston Headquarters, and  became an Editorial Assistant for the Water Resources Division (WRD). She served in that role until 1998, when she became a Writer-Editor, GS-7, and is now a GS-12, for the Reston Publishing Service Center.
