Robert Reynolds

Biography

Bob is the Museum Station Leader with senior responsibility for operation of the USGS Patuxent Wildlife Research Center's Biological Survey Unit located at the Smithsonian's National Museum of Natural History in Washington, DC. He takes the lead in representing the Unit to the USGS and the Patuxent Wildlife Research Center, maintaining relations with the Smithsonian Institution’s Department of Vertebrate Zoology, supervising the Unit’s technical staff, and coordinating and supporting the Unit’s administrative, scientific, and curatorial operations. He also serves as leader of the Curation of North American Vertebrates Project for USGS collection management responsibilities at the National Museum of Natural History. His scientific training was in vertebrate ecology and systematics and he develops field studies of amphibians and reptiles to document distributions and biodiversity through the collection and permanent archiving of biological samples and associated data. Research is focused on Neotropical studies of the taxonomy and biodiversity of amphibians and reptiles in the lowlands and highlands of Ecuador, Guyana, and Peru. He also holds the professional academic appointment of Adjunct Scientist at the National Museum of Natural History.
