New interagency study in Colorado identifies science needs to manage federal public lands
Terrestrial wildlife, protected birds and impacts of energy development were among the topics analyzed for land management decisions.
FORT Researcher Highlighted in PBS Documentary
Dr. Kate Schoenecker, FORT Research Wildlife Biologist, appeared in a new PBS documentary series, "Human Footprint", that discusses the many ways humans have transformed the planet.
A new management framework to balance competing species’ conservation needs
Conservation practitioners and restoration managers are often faced with the difficult decision of which species and ecosystems to prioritize during conservation. To aid managers in decision making, FORT researchers developed a novel framework that determines where restoration would be most effective in achieving multi-species benefits across ecosystems.

Publications
FORT scientists have produced more than 1,500 peer reviewed publications that are registered in the USGS Publications Warehouse, along with many others prior to their work at the USGS or in conjunction with other government agencies.
Data
Our interdisciplinary, integrated science teams develop various data sets in support of the USGS mission areas. This information then aids natural resource managers in decision making and support of the complex issues they face in today's world. The data and tools listed here are official USGS data releases.
Software
Scientists at the Fort Collins Science Center develop software and web applications to benefit natural resource management communities through improved decision making and support of the complex issues they face in today's world. These software and web applications support the scientific community through sharing of code and increase reproducibility of research results.
