The National Biosurveillance Integration Center (NBIC) integrates, analyzes, and distributes key information about health and disease events to help ensure the nation's responses are well-informed, save lives, and minimize economic impact.
The threat of bioterrorism and the global reach of emerging diseases like Ebola, avian flu, and Zika virus require our nation’s decision makers to have timely, accurate, and actionable information.
As part of the DHS Office of Health Affairs, NBIC collaborates with and serves as a bridge between federal, state, local, territorial, and tribal partners to integrate information from thousands of sources about biological threats to human, animal, plant, and environmental health, improving early warning and situational awareness. The result is a broader, more informed view of the threat landscape that helps the nation better prepare, protect, and respond.
