The Data Dictionaries are a set of information describing the contents, format, and structure of elements for EarthExplorer products.

 

Acquisition End Date

 

  • Field Definition:  The actual end date of data acquisition

                 Format:
                 YYYY/MM/DD
 

Acquisition Start Date

  • Field Definition:  The actual start date of data acquisition

                 Format:
                 YYYY/MM/DD
 

Cloud Cover

  • Field Definition:  Cloud Cover is the percentage of a scene that is obscured by clouds. It is an automatically generated value and is only an estimate.
     

Coordinates Decimal Degrees

  • Field Definition:  The latitude and longitude are provided in decimal degrees for the following fields:

                 Values:
                 Scene Center Latitude and Longitude
                 Northeast (NE) Corner Latitude and Longitude
                 Northwest (NW) Corner Latitude and Longitude
                 Southeast (SE) Corner Latitude and Longitude
                 Southwest (SW) Corner Latitude and Longitude

                 Latitude Format Decimal Degrees: -90.000 through 90.000
                 Longitude Format Decimal Degrees: -180.000 through 180.000

                 Number of decimal places will vary by dataset – check collection in EE.

  • Field Definition:  The latitude and longitude are provided in degrees, minutes, and seconds for the following fields:

                 Values:
                 Scene Center Latitude and Longitude
                 Northeast (NE) Corner Latitude and Longitude
                 Northwest (NW) Corner Latitude and Longitude
                 Southeast (SE) Corner Latitude and Longitude
                 Southwest (SW) Corner Latitude and Longitude

                Longitude Format:
                DDDMMSS.SSH
                DDD = Degree(s) with a range of 0 through 180
                MM = Minute(s) with a range of 0 through 59
                SS.SS = Second(s) with a range of 0 through 59.99
                H = Hemisphere with E for east and W for west

                Latitude Format:
                DDMMSS.SSH
                DD = Degree(s) with a range of 0 through 90
                MM = Minutes(s) with a range of 0 through 59
                SS.SS = Second(s) with a range of 0 through 59.99
                H = Hemisphere with N for north and S for south
 

Date Entered

  • Field Definition:  Date the data was entered into the collection
     

Date Updated

  • Field Definition:  Date the data was last updated
     

Entity ID

  • Field Definition:  A unique number used for identification in the database collection.

                  Example:
                  341948
 

Horizontal Tile Number

  • Field Definition:  Horizontal tile number of the WELD grid where the granule resides which increases from left to right.

                 Values:
                 Valid CONUS range = 00 - 32
                 Valid Alaska range = 00 - 16

ID Product DOI

  • Field Definition:  Digital Object Identifier in the form of a character string which is used to uniquely and permanently identify a dataset.

                 Values:
                 Prefix – 10.(number) identifies registrant agent.
                 5067 has been assigned for NASA ESDIS.

                 Suffix – uniquely identifies the data item and it’s format is assigned and managed by the registrant agent.

                 Example:
                 10.5067/MEaSUREs/WELD/WELDAKMO.001
 

ID Product DOI Authority

  • Field Definition:  System that provides an infrastructure for the registration and persistent reference of a DOI.

                  Example:
                  http://dx.doi.org
 

Local Granule ID

  • Field Definition:  The local Granule ID includes the region, Alaska or CONUS, the time span of the data, year, the horizontal and vertical tile numbers for that granule, production date time, and the version number and format for the WELD product.

                 Values:
                 CONUS.annual.2012.h16v09.doy009to365.v1.5.hdf
                 Alaska.month12.2011.h01v06.doy336to336.v1.5.hdf

                 Example:
                 CONUS.annual or Alaska.month12
                 2012 = Acquisition Date
                 h16 = Horizontal Tile
                 v09 = Vertical Tile
                 doy009to365 = Production Date Time
                 v1.5 = Version
                 hdf = Format
 

Local Version ID

  • Field Definition:  WELD Identifier assigned to this entity
     

Version Number

  • Field Definition:  The version number of WELD used for this product
     

Vertical Tile Number

  • Field Definition:  Vertical tile number of the WELD grid where the granule resides which increases from top to bottom.

                  Values:
                  Valid CONUS range = 00 - 21
                  Valid Alaska range = 00 - 13
