Watershed Boundary Dataset (WBD) Transitioning to 3DHP
Detailed Description
The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) Watershed Boundary Dataset (WBD) is a national hydrologic unit (HU) geospatial dataset that defines surface drainage areas for the United States. This dataset provides a foundation for local, regional, and national applications to manage, archive, exchange, and analyze data by HU. As the USGS launches the new 3D Hydrography Program (3DHP) the current hydrography datasets, including the National Hydrography Dataset (NHD) and WBD, are being retired. The USGS national WBD team has been working on WBD data improvements in preparation for the transition from the legacy WBD to the new 3DHP. This presentation will provide an overview of the improvements that the team has been working on and will highlight some of the major changes to the higher level HUs that are planned for inclusion in the 3DHP drainage area data.
