(He/him)Dan K. Arthur is an Interdisciplinary Scientist with the National Geological and Geophysical Data Preservation Program.
Dan is responsible for the tools such as the Registry of Scientific Collections (ReSciColl), used by NGGDPP stakeholders for cataloging metadata about their preserved collections, including state geological surveys and USGS programs. He works with developers (internal and external), users, and other stakeholders to ensure the tools have the appropriate features so that they are user-friendly, and that they capture the relevant metadata to make collections more FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, and Reusable). He provides training, documentation, and direct support to users. Dan has a background in information science, atmospheric science, and many years of experience in supporting users and in private sector management.
Away from work, Dan is passionate about reading, writing, science, history, bicycling, and travel, especially to our National Parks, and anything to do with maps and geography. He also enjoys building large, complicated LEGO sets when he has the time.
