The User Interface
StreamStats version 4 provides a single national user interface through which the application for any implemented state can be accessed. The two main areas on the user interface are the Map Frame and the Sidebar. Also, in the black banner above the map are the Help, About, and Report links, which are explained below.
Help, About, and Report Links
The Help, About, and Report links are to the right side of the black banner above the map in the StreamStats interface.
The Sidebar: Getting Information for User-Selected Ungaged Sites
The sidebar in the StreamStats interface directs users through a step-by-step process to achieve information for ungaged sites.
Identify a Study Area and Delineate a Basin
At this point in the StreamStats workflow, the user will have zoomed to the required zoom level to select a State or Region. Point delineation occurs after this selection has been made.
Editing a Basin
Did you know you can modify the shape of a StreamStats delineated basin? We provide full instructions on how to utilize our Edit Basin tool.
Getting Information for Streamgages
Information for USGS streamgages can be obtained by clicking or tapping on a triangular streamgage symbol in the Map Frame. The streamgage symbols will not appear on the map until it is zoomed into at least zoom level 9. The map legend indicates the meanings of the various colors.
Exploration Tools
The exploration toolset can be used in addition to the standard basin delineation process in StreamStats or the tools can be used on their own, without delineating a basin. The toolset currently holds seven options to choose from, including simple measuring/profiling, network tools, and the PROSPER tool for streamflow performance probabilities and classes.
Reports for User-Selected Ungaged Sites
Reports for user-selected ungaged sites are provided to display a summary of StreamStats results. Reports are customizable and offer printing options as well as multiple type options for data downloads.
Build a Report
The Build a Report panel in StreamStats offers the users various options to display in a report summarizing StreamStats results.
Select Scenarios
The Select Scenarios panel in the StreamStats interface offers users multiple regressions-based scenarios and basin characteristic options. Options vary by state/region.
