USGS provides plenary and other talks at the Chesapeake Research Symposium Completed
The Chesapeake Community Research Symposium is held every two years with a goal to “By bringing together managers, scientists, and stakeholders for a series of plenary talks, panel discussions, and special sessions, the 2020 Chesapeake Community Research Symposium will highlight recent progress, challenges and prospects for research, monitoring and modeling efforts that are used to guide management and restoration efforts in Chesapeake Bay.”
This year the symposium was held virtually on June 8-10, and had almost 500 participants.
USGS provided one of the plenary talks for the symposium: “Overview of Chesapeake Bay Restoration Goals and Opportunities for Science.”
The USGS either chaired, or had presenters, at multiple sessions including:
- Insights on BMP performance: why aren’t we seeing desired improvements at the watershed scale?
- The Challenge and Promise of Scale: Hi-Res Data, Monitoring, Modeling, and Statistical Analyses for Next Generation Management Models
- The Next Generation of Hydrogeomorphic Data, Tools, and Applications
- Approaches for Maintaining and Improving Chesapeake Bay Stream and Watershed Health
- Chesapeake Bay Submerged Aquatic Vegetation: Progress and Future Challenges
- Water-quality patterns and trends in the Chesapeake Bay and its watershed: Integrated monitoring and modeling approaches to advance science and inform management
- Collaborative modeling: examples, successes, and future directions
- Developing a Strategic Science and Research Framework for the Chesapeake Bay Program
