USGS contributes to new STAC report on designing sustainable coastal habitats Active

The purpose of the Designing Sustainable Coastal Habitats workshop and the approach the workshop steering committee used to bring together scientists, habitat restoration partners, and policy makers to address three goals.

The three workshop goals or themes were to:  

  1. Assess the current status and trending condition of coastal ecosystems in the Chesapeake Bay watershed; 
  2. Assess the capacity of coastal habitats to support flora and fauna; and 
  3. Identify and target for restoration and protection those coastal habitats that will be sustainable under increasing human impacts and a changing climate.
