Web developer honored with Excellence in Technology Transfer award
Linda Schueck, the primary web developer for the Land Treatment Exploration tool, was awarded the James R. Balsley Award for Excellence in Technology Transfer – Lifetime in Technology Transfer on December 6, 2023.
The Balsley Award is awarded by the USGS Office of Policy and Analysis and recognizes outstanding contributions that further technology innovation and transfer. The Lifetime award recognizes someone who has performed an outstanding service and accomplishment in technology transfer activities spanning a career.
Linda was at the forefront for pioneering web development, cloud hosting, and database infrastructure in the U.S. Geological Survey. The Land Treatment Exploration Tool and Land Treatment Digital Library projects were highlighted as important scientific contributions she made to the Department of the Interior. These important projects have been co-produced between the U.S. Geological Survey and the Bureau of Land Management to facilitate adaptive management of land treatments. The Exploration Tool taps into a wealth of information about past treatments in the Land Treatment Digital Library.
