Welcome to the South Atlantic Water Science Center
As of early 2017, the South Atlantic Water Science Center (SAWSC), which consists of water-science offices in Georgia, North Carolina, and South Carolina, has become integrated with the "new" U.S. Geological Survey Web site, which was introduced in April 2016. The USGS site uses a content-management system (CMS) to manage and disseminate much of USGS's information from one site.

In April 2016, the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) went online with its new Content Management System (CMS)-based Web site (https://www.usgs.gov/). The goal of this Web site is to establish a single Web presence that will house all Web content currently housed and served on hundreds of non-integrated Web servers throughout the country. The advantages are many:
- Tight integration of all USGS material
- Better organization and search capabilities
- A consistent look and feel
- A centrally planned and managed cloud-based system
- Consistent presentation across platforms, from desktop browsers to smartphones
As of May 2017, the South Atlantic Water Science Center (SAWSC), which is comprised of science-center offices in Georgia, North Carolina, and South Carolina, began moving its Web presence to the new USGS CMS system. And, you are looking at our new Web site. Some content still remains on our other servers, but over the coming year we will be migrating more content to the new system.
Our new SAWSC Web site is quite different than our other Web sites, so it will take some time for you to become used to it and to find the information you need. Please explore our site and send us an email if you need help finding something. And, please, feel free to send us your comments, both good and bad, about our new site and about how we can improve it.
To do so, just email Scott Young.
