Geochemical and mineralogical data for the USGS Gulf Coast 2 (GC-2) drill core for samples from the Woodbine Group to lower part of the Eagle Ford Group
Geochemical data reported here were collected on samples from the USGS Gulf Coast 2 (GC-2) core that was drilled near Dallas, TX, representing a proximal location of the Eagle Ford Group. These data were collected to better characterize the properties and variability within the Eagle Ford Group, an important and prolific petroleum source rock unit. This data accompanies a manuscript that will be submitted to a journal for publication. This manuscript focuses on the interval that spans the transgression from the Woodbine Group to the lower part of the Eagle Ford Group. The data include total carbon, total organic carbon, programmed temperature pyrolysis, whole rock elemental chemistry, XRD mineralogy, stable carbon isotopic compositions of insoluble organic matter, kerogen elemental chemistry, and organic biomarkers.
