Geochemical data for the Cenomanian-Turonian Greenhorn Formation recorded in the USGS#1 Portland Core of central Colorado
March 26, 2025
Geochemical and mineralogical characterization data was collected for samples of the Greenhorn Formation taken from the USGS Portland 1 core, which is stored in the USGS Core Research Center (library number E099 https://my.usgs.gov/crcwc/core/report/11834). The data was integrated with sedimentological descriptions in a manuscript (Flaum and others, 2025) that includes revised interpretations of the depositional setting that led to the deposition of a regionally important source rock and unit important for understanding paleoenvironmental conditions in the Cretaceous Western Interior Seaway. This data release contains data generated by USGS laboratories or requested by USGS scientists since 2020. A supplementary data file that accompanies the manuscript contains this data as well as previously published datasets documented by the USGS Core Research Center on their website for library number E099 (https://my.usgs.gov/crcwc/core/report/11834).
