MODFLOW-OWHM Used to Evaluate Groundwater Sustainability Goals of the Central Valley, California
The Central Valley Hydrologic Model version 2 (CVHM2) simulation period has been extended to the year 2100 to assess the feasibility of groundwater level sustainability goals established under California's Sustainable Groundwater Management Act (SGMA). The original CVHM2 model simulated monthly groundwater budgets from 1961 to 2019. This data release extends the simulation period to the year 2100 using historical climate inputs. Additionally, four scenarios of increased and decreased water demand have been developed by scaling crop coefficients within the model. This data release includes all input and output files corresponding to the simulations detailed in the model documentation report (Platt and others, 2025), as well as a database of SGMA wells and the post-processing files used to evaluate the sustainability goals of these wells.
