Nodal Seismometer Recordings along a San Francisco Peninsula DAS array, Stanford to Redwood City, California
In February 2026, the U.S. Geological Survey deployed a nodal seismometer array along a portion of a distributed acoustic sensing (DAS) array extending from Stanford to Redwood City, California. Seismic data were acquired using 33 DTCC SmartSolo, IGU-16HR 3-component nodal seismometers ("nodes"), which continuously recorded for approximately one month. By combining the DAS observations with co-located nodal sensors, the combined data provide a framework for evaluating amplitude consistency, coupling conditions, and spatial variations in DAS sensitivity along existing telecom infrastructure. This dataset will be used for future studies focused on DAS calibration, waveform fidelity, instrument-response characterization, and the broader use of telecommunication fibers for quantitative seismological monitoring.
