Ranid frog breeding and drought at Dilman Meadow and Ankeny Dugouts, Oregon, 2001-2024

August 25, 2026

This dataset contains information from egg mass surveys conducted 2001-2024 by USGS monitoring Oregon spotted frog (Rana pretiosa) and Northern red-legged frog (Rana aurora) breeding counts, phenology, and embryo viability. Oregon spotted frog breeding surveys were conducted at 9 ponds in a restored meadow in Deschutes National Forest in Deschutes County, Oregon. Northern red-legged frog breeding surveys were conducted at 5 "dugout" ponds in Ankeny National Wildlife Refuge in Marion County, Oregon. Data consist of numbers of unique egg masses detected each year during repeat surveys within the breeding season.
