Spatial Occurrence and Demographic Points of Six Non-Native Invasive Species across the Eastern US (2000-2020)

December 19, 2025

This dataset compiles spatial occurrence and demographic information for six non-native invasive tree and shrub species—autumn olive, bush honeysuckles, Callery pear, princess tree, privet, and tree-of-heaven—across the eastern United States from 2000 to 2020. Occurrence points were obtained from the Early Detection and Distribution Mapping System (EDDMapS), and plot-level observations and demographic estimates (e.g., trees per acre and basal area) for tree-of-heaven and princess tree were derived from the U.S. Forest Service Forest Inventory and Analysis (FIA) database using the rFIA R package. Records were rigorously quality-controlled to remove incomplete entries, unverified occurrences, and duplicate points, and all retained points were reprojected to the WGS84 geographic coordinate system for use in species distribution modeling and landscape simulations.
